I can choose and buy a ticket from a machine, validate it, transfer to another line, ask the way if I'm lost, and understand the signs on doors: entrance, exit, open, pull, push.

Tickets, directions, and signs
You buy a ticket from a machine, automat na lístky, in an app, or by text message (SMS lístok). A city ticket is for a length of time: na 30 minút, na hodinu. The types are in the table: celý or discounted (študentský; polovičný for children); papierový or elektronický; for a train, jednosmerný (one-way) or spiatočný (round-trip).
Stamp a paper ticket as soon as you board, označiť lístok, or you pay a fine. The ticket inspector (revízor) says: “Dobrý deň, kontrola. Váš lístok, prosím.” To transfer: prestúpiť na + the accusative: na autobus.
Lost? A man says “Stratil som sa.”, a woman “Stratila som sa.” Directions come in set phrases: rovno (straight ahead), vľavo (on the left), vpravo (on the right). Semafor is a traffic light; pri semafore, at the traffic light.
The door signs are in the table. TLAČIŤ means push; ŤAHAŤ means pull. DÁMY and PÁNI are the restrooms. páni means “gentlemen”, pani means “Ms., lady” (pani Šimková): they differ only by the mark (the checker can't tell them apart in writing), so tell them apart by eye.
Common mistakes:
• ×na desať minúty → na desať minút (as in päť eur).
• ×prestúpiť v trolejbus → prestúpiť na trolejbus.
• ×TLAČIŤ read as “pull” → TLAČIŤ means push.
