Cheaper, faster, the most: comparison

Cheaper, faster, the most: comparison

Why: to compare two things, choose the best one, and give your opinion. “More” is the word daha before the quality: daha ucuz — cheaper, daha hızlı — faster. The quality itself never changes: no -er, no -est. “Than …” is the ablative ending -dan, -den, -tan, -ten on the thing you compare with, and that word comes before daha: • Metro otobüsten daha hızlı. — “The subway is faster than the bus.” • İstanbul Ankara'dan daha büyük. With pronouns: benden, senden, ondan; bu → bundan, şu → şundan. “The most” is the word en: en ucuz — the cheapest; Türkiye'nin en büyük şehri — “the biggest city in Turkey”. Your opinion goes at the start of the sentence: bence or bana göre — “in my opinion”: Bence tren daha rahat. Common mistakes: • NOT “daha büyük Ankara” → Ankara'dan daha büyük • NOT “Ankara İzmir daha büyük” → Ankara İzmir'den daha büyük • NOT “Ben göre” → Bana göre
More and most

The word itself doesn't change; there are no exceptions.
