I can name the day of the week, say “on Saturday” and “on Fridays” — cumartesi günü, cuma günleri — tell what I do every day and sometimes, and make plans for tomorrow.

Days of the week and “how often”: Hangi gün? Ne zaman?

Days of the week and “how often”: Hangi gün? Ne zaman?

A week (hafta) has seven days: see the table. Turkish writes the days with a small letter, unlike English. Pazar means both “Sunday” and “market”. “On Monday” is pazartesi günü: after the name of the day comes the word günü, with no locative ending. “On Fridays”, every week, is cuma günleri. Also without an ending: hafta sonu “on the weekend”, bugün, yarın. Questions: Ne zaman? — “When?”, Hangi gün? — “On what day?” The question word stands where the answer will be, with no English inversion: Merve ne zaman dönüyor? — Merve yarın dönüyor. How often: her gün “every day”, her zaman “always”, bazen “sometimes”. After her the word stays singular: her hafta sonu, her perşembe. For tomorrow you can use the usual -yor form; the time word shows the future: Yarın çalışıyorum. — “I'm working tomorrow.” Common mistakes: • NOT “cumarteside” → cumartesi günü • NOT “her günler” → her gün • NOT “pazar günde” → pazar günü
The seven days of the week

Once — günü; every week — günleri. No locative ending is needed.
