What we review

What we review

Armenian has one present tense for both “I usually do” and “I'm doing now”. Remember where the linking verb goes. • Usually, after the -ում form (Աշխատում եմ). • In the negative, before it: Չեմ հասկանում. • In a question, right after the question word: Որտե՞ղ ես ապրում. • In an answer, right after the answer word: Հայերեն եմ սովորում. Two kinds of “not”: չէ — “is not” (after the word), չի — “doesn't” (before the -ում form). Without the -ում form: գիտեմ — չգիտեմ (one word), կարող եմ — չեմ կարող. A special form: գալիս եմ, տալիս եմ. Ո՞ւր — where to: the word takes no ending (տուն, դպրոց, Երևան); the exceptions are the set phrases աշխատանքի եմ գնում, դասի եմ գնում. Որտե՞ղ — where: Երևանում, տանը. After ուզում եմ, սիրում եմ, կարող եմ, the verb is in the infinitive. Module summary: now you can say what you do and don't do, where you live and where you're going, what languages you know, and what you like.
