What we review

What we review

Three tenses. What happened — bordim (kecha, oʻtgan hafta); what is happening now — boryapman (hozir); what happens usually and what will happen — boraman (har kuni, ertaga). The negative is -ma- inside the verb, the question -mi at the end. Two sets of personal endings: the first (-man, -san, -siz, -miz) after a noun, in both present tenses and after -moqchi; the second (-m, -ng, -ngiz, -k) after -di and on edi. Three “nots”, where English has one: emas — “is not” (also after -moqchi); -ma- — inside the verb; yoʻq — “there isn't, doesn't have”. Yesterday — edi, today — no word for “is”, tomorrow — boʻladi. “I like” and “I love”: Menga … yoqadi — the person “to whom”, and the thing with no ending; Men … -ni yaxshi koʻraman — the person who loves, and the thing with the ending. Also review: dates and ordinal numbers, “…-im ogʻriyapti”, plans with -moqchi.

What I can do now
After this module I can: • give a date and say when my birthday is and what year I was born: … yilda tugʻilganman; • say what I did yesterday and last week — and what I didn't do: bordim, bormadim; • say “I was at home”, “it was cold”, “I didn't have time”: edim, edi, yoʻq edi; • describe today's weather and say what it will be like tomorrow: … boʻladi; • talk about how my weekend went and explain why: chunki …; • say what I love and what I like; • tell a doctor what hurts and understand advice: …-im ogʻriyapti; • talk about my plans — what I want to do and am going to do: -moqchi. Next comes “A1 extras”: forms, visiting, and holidays.
