What the text is about

What the text is about

Now you'll read a German résumé — a Lebenslauf. In Germany it's written as a table: years on the left, and on the right what the person did at that time. The past in the text is the familiar Perfekt and the forms war/waren, and you studied the Dativ in this module: bei einer Firma, seit 2020, zur Arbeit. How a Lebenslauf is built is in the table alongside. One more thing. To say “Lena's internship”, German has two ways. The first is the name with s before the noun: Lenas Praktikum. No apostrophe here: NOT “Lena’s Praktikum” — that's the English spelling. The second is von and the Dativ: das Praktikum von Lena. Both are correct. With words that aren't names, at this level use only von: das Zeugnis von der Schule.
