Рассказывать, что было и что будет в месте: there was / there were и there will be, строить к ним вопросы и отрицания с any, ставить после оборота some и a lot of и не путать there's с it's.
Оборот there: прошлое, будущее и количество
Что было, что будет и сколько
Настоящее вы уже знаете: there is — об одном предмете и о неисчисляемом, there are — о нескольких. Теперь то же место в прошлом и в будущем.
Прошедшее — there was и there were. Форму задаёт то, что идёт сразу после оборота:
• There was a market here ten years ago.
• There were five benches in this park.
Будущее — there will be для любого числа, отрицание — there won't be:
• There will be a new bus stop near the school.
• There won't be any queues at eight in the morning.
В вопросе оборот переворачивается: Was there a car park here? Were there any benches? Will there be a concert?
После оборота: some — в утверждении, any — в вопросе и отрицании, a lot of — когда много.
There's или it's: there's называет предмет впервые, it's говорит о том, что уже названо. There's a new pharmacy here. It's open until ten.
Так неправильно:
• NOT «There were a queue» → «There was a queue».
• NOT «There will have a party» → «There will be a party».
• NOT «It's a playground behind the school» → «There's a playground behind the school».
