Инверсия используется и после выражений с 'only': 'Only then did I understand the truth', 'Only after the meeting did she relax'. Конструкция 'No sooner had... than...' описывает мгновенную последовательность: 'No sooner had we arrived than the show began'; обратите внимание, что здесь идёт 'than', а не 'when'. 'Not until' ведёт себя как only-группа: инверсия идёт в ГЛАВНОЙ части — 'Not until the second round did the negotiations move forward'. Так же и 'Only if': 'Only if the client signs today will we hold the price'. Эмфатическая инверсия с 'so' и 'such' выносит характеристику вперёд: 'So beautiful was the view that we stayed for hours' и 'Such was his anger that he left the room'. Все эти модели придают речи выразительность и используются в основном на письме. Частые ошибки: NOT 'No sooner had we left when the storm started' — после 'no sooner' идёт 'than', не 'when'; верно 'No sooner had we left than the storm started'.
