I can review everything in the module: what's happening now, what people are like, and what happened in the past.
What we review
The module's three topics
The module covered three topics. Here they are in brief; the forms and examples are in the table above.
What is happening right now: estar + gerund. Time expressions: ahora, ahora mismo, en este momento. Their opposite is the habit expression todos los días.
What a person is like and how they are today: ser + adjective for a permanent trait versus estar + adjective for a state. Appearance is described with tener, and the article is required: tiene el pelo largo, unlike English “has long hair”.
What happened and is over: pretérito indefinido (the preterite). Time expressions: ayer, anoche, la semana pasada, el mes pasado, el año pasado, el fin de semana pasado. There is also “hace + time”: hace dos días (two days ago). Regular -ar verbs have their own endings; -er and -ir verbs share one set.
Three special verbs. ir and ser: fui, fuiste, fue, fuimos, fuisteis, fueron. estar: estuve, estuviste, estuvo, estuvimos, estuvisteis, estuvieron.
Where someone went: ir and the preposition a; where someone was: estar and the preposition en.
Module summary: you can now say what is happening at this minute, describe people, and talk about completed events in the past.
