Lesson 2. The same person in different formats

1 / 3

A format is a decision, not a setting

The frame format decides how much space goes to the person and how much to the place. • 9:16 — the vertical feed: almost everything goes to the person, and the background shows as a narrow strip. • 4:5 — a portrait-format post: the person is large, but a little of the surroundings remains. • 3:2 — a horizontal frame: the person becomes part of the place. The same scene in different formats makes three different photos, not one photo cropped three ways.
