Lesson 7. Module 1 review

I can review the whole module: greet people with ty and with vy, say who I am and where I'm from, address people by first and last name, name the gender and describe a person and a thing, ask with ty and with vy — and not mix up dobře and dobré.

What we review

What we review

There are no new rules here, only what you already know. • Hello and goodbye by the situation: with ty, ahoj, čau; with vy, dobrý den, na shledanou; the vy form adds -te. • být is a must: jsem, jsi, je, jsme, jste, jsou; ne- is joined to the verb; “he isn't” is není. • Calling someone takes a special form: Jakube, Evo, pane Bartoši; paní and last names in -ý don't change. • A woman: -ka (studentka), last names in -ová, -á (Kolářová, Novotná). • Gender by the ending: ten / ta / to, jeden / jedna / jedno; adjectives follow the gender: -ý, -á, -é; -í doesn't change. • -ovat: pracuju (pracuji) … pracují (pracujou); ty takes -š, vy takes -te. • How and what kind: dobrý, špatný say what kind; dobře, špatně say how (Mám se dobře). dobré (neuter adjective) and dobře (well) look almost the same but sound different: dobře has ř, dobré a long é. Look at the end of the word. The module is over: now you can meet people, address someone by first and last name, say who or what something is and what it's like, and ask someone to repeat.
