Confidently tell apart the Valar and their domains, and keep them apart from the Maiar and the fallen spirits.
Before the exercises
What we're checking
The main thing is not to confuse the Valar's “offices” and not to mix up the Valar with the Maiar. Remember: the Valar are the highest (Manwë, Varda, Ulmo, Aulë, Yavanna, Oromë, Mandos, Nienna, Tulkas, and others); the Maiar are serving spirits (Sauron, the Balrogs, later the Istari). Melkor fell away and no longer counts as one of the Valar.
