Remember who is in the Ogino family and what role each of them plays in the setup.
The Ogino family
The setup has three people:
— Chihiro (Ogino Chihiro) — a 10-year-old girl, the main character. Soon she will become “Sen.”
— Akio Ogino — the father: good-natured, overconfident, fond of a good meal, and dismissive of danger (“I've got credit cards and cash; I'll pay when the owners come back”).
— Yuko Ogino — the mother: calm and a little strict; unlike her daughter, she isn't afraid to go into the tunnel.
It's the parents' carelessness and appetite that will set off the trouble: in an empty “restaurant,” they will start eating food that isn't theirs.
