Collaborating in Google Sheets

Collaborating in Google Sheets

Google Sheets is built for teamwork. You can share a spreadsheet with specific people or with anyone who has the link. There are three roles: Viewer — can only view the spreadsheet, not change it; Commenter — can leave comments but doesn’t edit the data; Editor — full access, can change the data and settings. Comments let you talk right inside the spreadsheet: right-click a cell → “Comment”. You can mention a coworker with @ and their email, and they’ll get a notification. Version history shows who changed what and when, and lets you restore the spreadsheet to any earlier state: “File → Version history → See version history” (the interface may change as Sheets is updated). Protected ranges prevent accidental edits to important cells: “Data → Protect sheets and ranges”. You can protect a single range or a whole sheet and choose who is allowed to make changes. You can try real collaboration only in your own Google Sheets spreadsheet — here we practice understanding the roles and scenarios.
