The calendar: month, day, year

The calendar: month, day, year

You need dates to give your birthday, make an appointment, and arrange something for “next week”. Month: number + がつ (月). Three of the months aren't read like the plain number: See the table below. The 1st to the 10th of the month are special words: Learn them in order, like a counting rhyme. 7 and 9 are read as in the months, しち and く: 17日 — じゅうしちにち, 19日 — じゅうくにち. Three days break the rule: About a birthday: … The “when” words come in four sets: day, week, month, year (table below). They take no に, like まいにち, and like English “next week” or “last year”. • NOT いちにち in a date → ついたち.
Months: number + がつ

Three of the months aren't read like the number itself — they're highlighted.
