I can ask for something in a store, talk about the past in three ways, say what I want, and link sentences into a story.
What we review
What we review
In this module you learned to ask for things in a store and to talk about the past and about what you want.
The past has three rules, one for each kind of predicate:
• verb: ます → ました, ません → ませんでした;
• an い-adjective changes itself: かったです, くなかったです; exception: いい → よかったです;
• a な-adjective and a noun: でした, じゃなかったです.
English puts the past on “was”; in Japanese only nouns and な-adjectives take でした.
Wanting to: たいです and たくないです. A request in a store: …がほしいんですが… The linking words それから “then”, それに “besides”, でも “but”, まず “first”, and さいごに “finally” start a new sentence, after a period.
You've finished module 6: now you can talk about the past and about your plans.
