• Pointing at a thing: ten / tá / to, tento (here), tamten (over there); where: hore, dole, vľavo, vpravo… As in English “Where's…?”, a question with kde and no other verb needs je.
• Describing: the ending follows the gender: -ý / -á / -é; how? — pekne, what kind? — pekné.
• What I do: the infinitive shows the verb type (table); “I have” is mám.
• What I don't do: ne- joins the verb; nie som / nie je stay apart.
• My job: Som lekár / lekárka; Pracujem ako lekár; the feminine form follows a pattern.
• When: v pondelok, vo štvrtok, v stredu; ráno, večer; zajtra takes no preposition.
