The four seasons: գարուն, ամառ, աշուն, ձմեռ. “In spring, in summer, in fall, in winter” are set words; learn them as a whole: գարնանը, ամռանը, աշնանը, ձմռանը (see the table).
Weather is said with no subject, no word for “it”: a word and the linking verb: Ցուրտ է (“It's cold”), Շոգ է, Տաք է, Արևոտ է.
Rain and snow “come” in Armenian: Անձրև է գալիս (“It's raining”), Ձյուն է գալիս. The linking verb goes right after անձրև or ձյուն. For wind and sun, Armenian says “there is”: Քամի կա, Արև կա.
Degrees: Այսօր տասնհինգ աստիճան է — after a number the word stays singular.
For yesterday's weather, use the forms you know: Երեկ ցուրտ էր։ Անձրև եկավ։ Արև չկար։
Common mistakes:
• NOT “Այսօր ցուրտ” → Այսօր ցուրտ է (the linking verb is needed).
• NOT “Անձրև գալիս է” → Անձրև է գալիս.
• NOT “գարունում” → գարնանը.
